Jonathan Walters has been handed a lone striking role for Ireland against Germany tomorrow night after captain Robbie Keane was ruled out with an Achilles injury.
The Stoke frontman will line-up ahead of a three-man midfield of Keith Andrews, James McCarthy and Keith Fahey with Aiden McGeady and Simon Cox providing the width.
Seamus Coleman has got the nod at right-back with John O'Shea, who will captain the side in Keane's absence, moving inside to partner Darren O'Dea and Stephen Ward starting on the left.
Ireland XI to play Germany: Westwood; Coleman, O'Shea, O'Dea, Ward; McGeady, Andrews, McCarthy, Fahey, Cox; Walters.
It was confirmed this morning that Robbie Keane would miss tomorrow's match, making him the sixth senior member of Giovanni Trapattoni's squad to be ruled out.
The Los Angeles Galaxy striker suffered an Achilles injury this week. However the FAI hope he will be available for the trip to the Faroe Islands next Tuesday.
Keane joins fellow striker Kevin Doyle, central defensive partners Richard Dunne and Sean St Ledger, and midfielders Glenn Whelan and James McClean on the sidelines for the home game against the Group C leaders.
