12 changes to Ireland XV for Fiji clash

Ireland head coach Declan Kidney has named a much changed side to play Fiji in a non-Test fixture at Thomond Park on Saturday.

The uncapped Ulster trio - inside centre Luke Marshall, wing Craig Gilroy and fly-half Paddy Jackson - have all been selected to start in a game in which the IRFU will not award international caps.

Captain Jamie Heaslip, Mike Ross and Conor Murray are the only players selected who started last weekend's narrow defeat to South Africa at the Aviva Stadium.

Former Ireland U-20 Paddy Jackson will partner Murray in the half backs with his Ulster colleagues Luke Marshall and Darren Cave forming the centre partnership outside him.

David Kilcoyne, who won his first cap as a replacement in that 16-12 defeat also starts against Fiji.

"We know it will be a difficult test and this is a vote of confidence for the players we've picked," coach Declan Kidney said.

"We know they'll do a job and they've been training really well over the last two and a half weeks. We feel they deserve their go."

Ireland, who face Argentina in the climax to their Guinness Series on Saturday week, have won all three previous meetings with Fiji.

Ireland XV to play Fiji: D Hurley; F McFadden, D Cave, L Marshall, C Gilroy; P Jackson, C Murray; D Kilcoyne, S Cronin, M Ross, D O'Callaghan, D Tuohy, I Henderson, J Muldoon, J Heaslip

Replacements: R Strauss, C Healy, M Bent, D Ryan, C Henry, P Marshall, J Sexton, S Zebo
