Eoin Brosnan from the Dr Crokes club will captain the Kerry senior footballers for the 2013 season.
Crokes, the reigning county champions, had the honour of naming the skipper and went for Brosnan over his club-mate Colm Copper, who captained the Kingdom for the last two seasons.
The 32-year-old Brosnan made his Kerry debut in 2000 and holds three All-Ireland medals.
He was persuaded to come out of retirement by then manager Jack O'Connor ahead of the 2011 season and has assumed a role in the Kingdom half-back line.
Kieran O'Leary has been named vice captain.
