Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney was keen to deflect attention away from Seanie Johnston after he top-scored in yesterday's O'Byrne Cup win over Offaly.
The former Cavan forward, who made a controversial move to the Lilywhites last season, hit 0-07 (4 frees) on his first start for the county in their 1-12 to 1-09 semi-final win in Tullamore.
McGeeney said: "Seanie is a finisher but Tom O'Connor did a lot of good ball-winning there, as did Daniel Flynn and that makes the job a wee bit easier for Seanie to pick off the scores so we're happy with that."
Kildare will now face Dublin in Parnell Park on Saturday and the Armagh man said that he will assess his panel during the week before deciding on the starting 15.
"There will be a few other players coming in," he said.
"Johnny [Doyle] was sick this week and we had a few other injuries with Peter Kelly and Eoin Doyle so we'll just see how they go.
In fairness to everyone today they put in a good shift and we'll see what it's like next week then."
Meanwhile, Dublin manager Jim Gavin wasn't reading anything into their 17-point win over Louth in Drogheda and admitted his priority is putting together a competitive panel for the summer.
He said: "The Louth manager obviously had a look at their set-up and put out an inexperienced side and gave some of their more established players a day off.
"We got some early goals and it probably took the steam out of their engine early on.
"The players who are putting in the performances now will get the slots for the National League.
"What we are trying to do is generate a competitive squad.
"Players, if are playing well for their colleges, their clubs, their county, they'll get a chance to wear the Dublin jersey."
