Sunday's Kempton racing called off

Written By Unknown on Minggu, 20 Januari 2013 | 23.06

This afternoon's Flat meeting at Kempton has been abandoned due to snow.

Although course officials gave the fixture the go-ahead earlier in the morning, the situation has since deteriorated.

Kempton's abandonment means there is now no racing in Britain and in Ireland on Sunday.

WOLVERHAMPTON - MONDAY

Wolverhampton's meeting on Monday must pass a 6.30am precautionary inspection on raceday morning.

With temperatures to remain below freezing, and further snow forecast, track officials are taking no chances.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: "We had snow Friday and worked the track, which improved significantly on Saturday.

"It just seems sensible, given the situation, to check early morning."

WETHERBY - TUESDAY

Tuesday's jumps meeting at Wetherby has been abandoned.

Course officials made the straightforward call following an inspection on Sunday morning.

The track is covered in snow and still frozen, with the two-day forecast offering no cause for optimism.

LINGFIELD - TUESDAY

Lingfield's meeting on Tuesday must pass a 2pm inspection on Monday.

Clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross will assess conditions due to the prospect of further snow at the Surrey circuit.
