Fellow full-back Ryan Shotton (hamstring) could return after being ruled out of the Palace game and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and midfielder Charlie Adam are set to return having been rested on Tuesday.

Charlie Adam

Potters boss Tony Pulis says he has a "big decision" to make over whether or not to bring striker Kenwyne Jones - a goalscorer as a substitute in the cup tie, and a reported Swansea target - back into the first XI at the Liberty Stadium.

Defender Marc Wilson, out since breaking his leg in October, is in training again but not yet ready for selection, nor is midfielder Rory Delap (calf), and although winger Jermaine Pennant is back from his loan spell at Wolves, he will also not feature at the weekend.

Swansea will be without midfielder Kemy Agustien with the Dutchman facing a four-week spell on the sidelines because of an ankle injury.

Danny Graham is set to be included despite Swansea receiving two bids to lure the striker away from the Liberty Stadium, while loan signing Roland Lamah is in line for his debut after joining on an 18-month deal from Osasuna.

The likes of Ben Davies, Ashley Williams, Michu, Angel Rangel and Ki Sung-yueng could all be in line to return to the starting line-up.

Centre-back James Collins (hamstring) will be assessed, but midfielder Mark Noble has shrugged off a calf problem while Joe Cole comes into contention having been rested for the midweek FA Cup third-round replay defeat at Manchester United.

New signing Wellington Paulista may need more time before being included. Mali forward Modibo Maiga is away at the African Nations Cup and striker Andy Carroll and defender George McCartney (both knee) continue their rehabilitation.

Wigan are likely to revert to a more familiar line-up for their tie underland after making nine changes in the FA Cup in midweek.

But manager Roberto Martinez has issues in defence with Antolin Alcaraz (groin) training but not yet match-fit and Ivan Ramis (knee) ruled out for the season.

The new pair of midfielder Roger Espinoza and striker Angelo Henriquez are pushing for places but defender Adrian Lopez (hamstring) and midfielders Ben Watson (broken leg), Albert Crusat (knee) and Ryo Miyaichi (ankle) are still out.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill will hope to have John O'Shea and Steven Fletcher back at his disposal.

The Republic of Ireland defender was rested for Tuesday night's 2-0 FA Cup third round replay defeat by Bolton after complaining of tightness in his hamstring, while the Scotland striker missed out through illness, but both are expected to return.

Defender Kader Mangane and midfielder Alfred N'Diaye could be included after being ineligible in midweek, although the former is short of match-fitness, but skipper Lee Cattermole is likely to miss out despite returning as a substitute against Bolton after aggravating his knee problem.

Wigan squad: Al Habsi, Pollitt, Boyce, Caldwell, Figueroa, Beausejour, Gomez, Jones, Maloney, Espinoza, McCarthy, McArthur, Stam, McManaman, Di Santo, Henriquez, Boselli, Fyvie, Redmond, Mustoe, Golobart.

Midfielder Claudio Yacob (hamstring) and strikers Shane Long (dead leg) and Marc-Antoine Fortune (hamstring) will be assessed to see if they are ready to return after recent spells on the side-lines.

But right-back Steven Reid will miss the game as a precaution after suffering a knock on the bone he fractured in his leg against Arsenal last month.

Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar is in contention to return to the side after a seven-week absence.

The Dutch international defender has been sidelined with a calf injury but returned as an unused substitute against Southampton last weekend and has since put in a full week's training.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has now left for the African Nations Cup while defenders William Gallas (calf) and Younes Kaboul (knee) remain absent.

Jonny Evans again misses out for Manchester United.

Manager Alex Ferguson had hoped the Northern Ireland international would have shrugged off a slight hamstring strain but Evans was unable to train this morning and has been ruled out.

Plenty of changes are anticipated following the midweek FA Cup win over West Ham, with Robin van Persie amongst those set to return.

Tottenham squad: Lloris, Friedel, Gomes, Walker, Naughton, Dawson, Vertonghen, Caulker, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Falque, Townsend, Livermore, Dempsey, Carroll, Mason, Huddlestone, Parker, Dembele, Bale, Defoe.
