Anthony Pilkington has pulled out of the Ireland squad for Wednesday's friendly with Poland due to a hamstring injury picked up against QPR this afternoon.
The Norwich midfielder was set to earn his first senior cap for Giovanni Trapattoni's side on Wednesday night after completing the relevant paperwork during the week.
Trapattoni has yet to announce any replacement midfielder to replace Pilkington in the squad.
An FAI statement confirmed the news and also announced that Spartak Moscow midfielder Aiden McGeady will also miss out on Wednesday's clash.
The statement read: "The Football Association of Ireland today (Saturday) confirmed that both Aiden McGeady and Anthony Pilkington have been ruled out of next Wednesday's 'Three International Friendly' against Poland in Aviva Stadium.
"Aiden McGeady is suffering from an ongoing ankle injury, while Anthony Pilkington pulled his hamstring." - FAI
"Aiden McGeady is suffering from an ongoing ankle injury, while Anthony Pilkington pulled his hamstring in the first half of Norwich's game against QPR today. Both players will remain at their clubs for treatment.
"An update will be issued later today should the manager decide to call in any replacements."
