Taylor's ring return live on RTÃ‰

Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor returns to the ring on Friday following her historic achievement at London 2012 in a bout to be broadcast live on RTÉ Two television and worldwide on RTÉ.ie/sport.

Taylor fights Polish pugilist Karolina Graczyk as part of the programme of events at the Irish Daily Star-sponsored National Championships at Dublin's National Stadium.

Taylor's with Graczyk marks the start of a busy week for the Olympian, who will also fight Germany's Maike Kluener at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre on Sunday evening.

The Bray lightweight's bout will be one of three fights carried live on RTÉ Two and RTÉ.ie/sport from 21:45 on the night, along with the Irish title fights between Joe Ward and Kenneth Egan at light-heavyweight (81kg) and the welterweight decider between Adam Nolan and Willie McLoughlin (69kg).

Egan is the most decorated Irish boxer of his generation, with an Olympic silver medal, two European bronze medals, three EU gold medals, ten Irish titles and a stunning stonewashed denim jacket to his credit.

The 31-one-year old Dubliner is appearing in his 13th successive national final, and if he overcomes the defending champion he will make history as the first man to win 11 senior titles.

However, he will go into Friday's light-heavyweight decider with current European champion Joe Ward as the underdog.

Ward beat Egan in the both the 2011 and 2012 finals, with the former defeat dashing Egan's hopes of becoming the first Irish boxer to win 11 successive national titles in the 102-year history of the IABA.

In the welterweight final, defending champion and London Olympian Adam Nolan takes on former title holder Willie McLoughlin.

Nolan is seeking his third Irish title, but knows he faces a stiff test from McLoughlin, who beat Beijing Olympian John Joe Joyce in a cracking semi-final.

Elsewhere on the card, there are some mouth-watering bouts to look forward to.

Olympic bronze medalist Michael Conlan seeks his third successive Irish title as he takes on Chris Phelan in the flyweight final.

European champion Ray Moylette faces defending champion Ross Hickey in the light-welterweight decider in what could well be the fight of the night.

In all, there are 14 bouts taking place at the National Stadium, with 13 Irish titles up for decision.

Action gets underway at 7pm.
