The GAA has said it will investigate Paul Galvin's claims that he was spat at during last month's All-Ireland Intermediate Club football final.
The Kerry star, who was representing his club Finuge, issued a statement on his personal website last night, claiming that a member of the Cookstown team from Tyrone had spat at him during the game.
Footage of the alleged incident appeared on Youtube in recent days and Cookstown's Owen Mulligan reacted to the clips by saying that his team mates had been subjected to "vile sectarian abuse" during the match.
Galvin said he decided to go public with this in light of Mulligan's comments.
He said: "I would like to 100% confirm for the record that I was spat on during the game. Furthermore I will utterly and unequivocally distance myself from claims made regarding verbal abuse during the game."
Galvin's claims come in the wake of a similar claim from Leitrim's Emlyn Mulligan, who said that he was spat at during their Allianz National Football League defeat to Offaly on Sunday.
The Central Competitions Control Committee are looking into the allegations.
