Sexton and Gilroy fit to face Italy

Jonathan Sexton and Craig Gilroy will be available for Ireland's final RBS 6 Nations game of the season against Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Saturday.

Both backs have recovered sufficiently from injury with Sexton's hamstring strain, sustained against England, keeping him out of the defeat against Scotland and the draw with France.

Gilroy missed the France game with groin trouble.

At this stage it is too early to say if Brian O'Driscoll and Luke Marshall will be fit for the game against the Italians.

Marshall suffered concussion against Les Bleus.

O'Driscoll had stitches to a wound in his ear, and also suffered a dead leg and concussion after the bruising game against France on Saturday.

Lock Donnacha Ryan's situation will be monitored this week after receiving a blow to the AC joint in his shoulder and he will be monitored during the week.

Uncapped Ulster scrumhalf Paul Marshall has been called up the squad in place of Leinster's Eoin Reddan, who fractured his leg in the clash with France.

Reddan will undergo surgery today and will be out of action for 12-16 weeks.
