Tally Ho signals the Flat season is afoot

Jim Bolger has made two entries in Sunday's Tally Ho Stud EBF Maiden at the Curragh.

The County Carlow trainer has won the first event of the Irish Flat season for the last two seasons, but notably last year it came through Dawn Approach, who went on to land a couple of major Group Ones and become champion European two-year-old.

He has entered an Intense Focus filly called Heart Focus and a Cape Cross colt, Saburo, who runs in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed, who bought Dawn Approach for Godolphin.

However, Aidan O'Brien will provide plenty of opposition as he has five of the initial entries through Coach House, Cougar Mountain, Craftsman, Stubbs and Wilshire Boulevard.

O'Brien's Homecoming Queen made an inauspicious reappearance in last year's Lodge Park Stud EBF Park Express Stakes before taking the 1000 Guineas and Ballydoyle have two entered in the Group Three through Beach Of Falesa and the CL Weld Park Stakes winner Magical Dream.

Kevin Prendergast could start off his smart two-year-old La Collina, who did not make a huge impact last season, while Bolger's Bunairgead and the Dermot Weld-trained Yellow Rosebud look leading contenders among the nine.
