St Thomas' became the seventh Galway side to win the All-Ireland club hurling title when they came from behind in the final quarter at Croke Park to beat Kilcormac-Killoughey on a 1-11 to 1-09 scoreline
The dream died for a Kilcormac-Killoughey side who finished with 13 men and the Offaly side failed to score in the closing 18 minutes of a game played in difficult conditions.
The experience of full-forward Richie Murray was key to St Thomas' success in the final quarter while teenager Eanna Burke, the youngest of manager John Burke's six sons, was also very impressive when introduced.
