Henry de Bromhead: 'There's only four runners but it's a competitive little race'

Henry de Bromhead is hopeful the exciting Days Hotel can secure his fifth win from six starts over fences in the Normans Grove Chase at Fairyhouse tomorrow.

The eight-year-old was hugely impressive on his first two starts over fences in 2011 and picked up where he left off after a year on the sidelines with victory in the Hilly Way Chase at Cork back in December.

He disappointed over two and a half miles in the Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles the following month, but was back in the winning groove over the minimum distance at Naas in February.

He gives weight to three opponents in Tuesday's Grade Two contest, run at this meeting for the first time, - Bob Lingo, Foildubh and Lead Kindly Light.

De Bromhead said: "There's only four runners but it's a competitive little race.

"He has to give a bit of weight away but hopefully he'll run very well, he seems in great form at home.

"The drying ground probably isn't ideal for him, but it should be safe enough, so we'll see how we get on.

"He's had a good season already and he's developing all the time."

The Tom Mullins-trained veteran Bob Lingo is still engaged in the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree on Saturday, but instead takes his chance in this shorter event.

Mullins said: "The trip might be on the short side for him, but he did win a good handicap over two miles at Fairyhouse last year.

"He's in good shape, Days Hotel looks like the one to beat on the ratings, so if we can finish second to him we'll be happy.

"He is still in the National and he qualifies now after finishing fourth the last day, but he's hardly going to run there if all goes well tomorrow."
