Ireland will play a friendly against World and European champions Spain at Yankee Stadium in New York on 11 June.
The game will take place at 1am Irish time (8pm ET).
The FAI confirmed this afternoon that the match will be the last of four consecutive fixtures from the end of May onwards.
Ireland will face England at Wembley on 29 May, followed by a friendly against Georgia in Dublin on 2 June and the home qualifier against the Faroe Islands on 7 June.
Speaking today, Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni said he was looking forward to the game in New York.
"Our team is in evolving and showing a lot of promise. The recent games demonstrated that our players have serious potential.
"Matches against opposition like England, Georgia and Spain are very helpful to that development and great preparation for our important competitive fixtures in June, September and October."
The FAI said the match will be the second of two fixtures this summer at Yankee Stadium following Chelsea v Manchester City on 25 May.
A first sales phase ticket bundle for both matches will be available from 10 April via www.yankees.com/soccer.
Supporters travelling from Ireland will be able to apply for tickets for the match against Spain from April 15 at 9am via www.fai.ie/away
It was also confirmed today that Vienna will be the venue for Ireland's away qualifier against Austria on 10 September.
