Cork and Clare prepare to meet for the fourth time this season with a place in the Munster final up for grabs.

The Banner won the Waterford Crystal clash and both of the league encounters, including the relegation play-off that condemned Cork to Division 1B hurling next year (barring a structural change).

After their qualifier run to the All-Ireland semi-final last year, relegation will have been a setback for Jimmy Barry-Murphy's plans.

The Leesiders are must also do without Paudie O'Sullivan, Lorcan McLoughlin and Pa Cronin for the Gaelic Grounds tie.

Defender Conor O'Sullivan told the Irish Examiner: "Everyone is going to have to do it for them and try to get them a game back in the Championship. You'd be deflated to an extent, but there are three other fellas now who can step up to the plate and it's great for them to get a Championship game. There's good and bad in it."

Séamus Harnedy is due to make his Championship debut for Cork, who, unusually, go into the tie as underdogs.

The Rebels must also deal with an 11-week break since the league play-off, not ideal at all.

Clare, on the other hand, came through a tough encounter with Waterford just three weeks ago.

The Banner came strong at the right time and Davy Fitzgerald demonstrated that, alongside all the shouting and screaming, he has tactical nous as well.

Ahead of the game, Clare captain Patrick Donnellan told the Irish Examiner that they are delighted to be back on a level footing with Cork.

"That's what keeps it going, that every team has a chance of winning the Championship every year and I think that's brilliant. That was the case again this year. The way every inter-county team prepares now, anyone can beat anyone else on a given day."

Should the Banner prevail, it will set up the first Limerick-Clare final since 1995.

Verdict: Clare

Cork: A Nash, S McDonnell, B Murphy, C O'Sullivan, S O'Neill, C Joyce, W Egan, T Kenny, D Kearney, C McCarthy, S Harnedy, C Lehane, P Horgan, L O'Farrell, S Moylan.
