Airtricity League Team of the Week

Goalkeeper:
Mark McGinley (UCD)

The UCD shot-stopper had a busy night in Tallaght as his side drew 1-1 with Shamrock Rovers but he was equal to the task and helped his side claim a point.

Frustrating the likes of Eamon Zayed and Ronan Finn, McGinley helped to make sure of the point with a fine reaction save with his feet from Sean O'Connor late on.

Defence:
Conor Powell (Shamrock Rovers)

Once again the Shamrock Rovers left-back turned in an impressive display full of attacking intent without ever neglecting his defensive duties. Powell proved to be a good foil for new frontman Eamon Zayed, sending in plenty of tempting crossed and while there was little he could do about UCD's equaliser, he was solid at the back throughout.

Mark Langtry (UCD)
The entire UCD back four could have a good claim to be included in this team but Langtry was the stand out performer for his side on a night when they frustrated Shamrock Rovers.

At time the Hoops were sending wave after wave of attacks forward but Langtry's always managed to get a foot in the way and it wasn't until injury time that he picked up a booking, despite UCD being on the back foot throughout.

Hugh Douglas (UCD)
Hugh Douglas
UCD's 1-1 draw in Tallaght was built on a solid rear-guard action and Hugh Douglas was at the heart of that effort. With good positional awareness Douglas was in the right place at the right time and often didn't have to put his foot in, breaking up attacks before they built-up, but when it was required he was assured in the tackle.

Midfield:
Daryl Horgan (Cork)

The left winger was a constant menace to John Sullivan and the Dundalk defence in general during their 2-2 draw. Horgan has been one of the best players in the league this season and against Dundalk he hit the woodwork twice, won a penalty and was involved in most of the home side's best play.

Darren Meenan (Dundalk)
The diminutive Dundalk player proved to be a thorn for Cork City's defence throughout. His superb set piece deliveries caused absolute havoc and it was his cross that Gartland converted in the first half.

Axel Bossekota (Limerick)

The Belgian was the chief threat to the Shels' defence for much of the night with his movement and good touch. He scored his seventh goal of the league season when giving Limerick at first half lead and was unlucky to be on the losing side.

Stephen O'Donnell (Dundalk)
The veteran midfielder has had a few injury niggles this season but when fit and on form, he remains a fine player. Against Cork he turned in a fierce display in the middle of the field, full of sharp and snappy tackling and surging runs forward.

His late equaliser to earn Dundalk a point had a stroke of fortune about it – he scooped the ball home after a messy goalmouth scramble – but it was just reward for his all around play.

Forwards:
Lee Murtagh (Shelbourne)

The tall striker once again worked tirelessly for his team in their victory against Limerick, chasing down lost causes and tracking back to help out his defence. He got the rewards for his endeavours when equalising early in the second half.

Dinny Corcoran (Bohemians)
Bohemians have had precious little to cheer about this season but a late brace of goals from Dinny Corcoran helped to give them a crucial 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Bray.

The Gypsies' front man first finished cleverly from a Karl Moore cross before pouncing on a loose ball to give his side only their fourth league win of the season.

Chris Lyons (Bohemians)

Along with Corcoran, Lyons was the star of the show for Bohemians. His quickness of foot and pace caused the Bray defences no end of problems and he drew foul after foul from them. His trickery forced Shane O'Connor into conceding an early penalty and Lyons continued to torment the Bray back line all night.
