Allen 'totally dedicated' to Limerick team

Limerick manager John Allen says he is dedicated to his Limerick team as they prepare for Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final with Cork (throw-in 4pm).

Allen previously managed Cork and went on to win the Munster and the All-Ireland titles.

Sunday's game is the first time the two sides will meet at the Gaelic Grounds since 1975.

The Cork native said that although his heart lies with the Rebel County, his Limerick team will be giving it their all to win the Munster SHC final for the first time since 1996.

He told RTÉ Sport: "[I'm] Cork to the core, like, but when you work with a group of fellas who are so honest as I have been for the past two years, you're inside in that, three or four times a week for the past two years so, you know like, I'm totally dedicated to what I'm doing now."

Meanwhile, Cork goalkeeper Anthony Nash will also have mixed emotions this Sunday.

His uncles, Mike and Declan, played hurling for Limerick in the 90s and he told RTÉ Sport that he has been receiving support from both counties.

"A good few people have been in where I'm from in Kanturk, from Limerick as well and my family are from Limerick as well so I suppose I'm getting a lot of jibes from both sides of the border," he said.

As Cork battle for their first Munster hurling title in seven years, he says the Treaty County can't be taken lightly.

"Any team that beats Tipperary especially convincing like they did is going to be a force to be reckoned with."
