Murphy: Donegal hurting after Ulster final defeat

Donegal full forward Michael Murphy says Laois will prove tough opposition in their fourth round qualifier this weekend as the team prepare to move from their Ulster final disappointment.

Monaghan pulled off a shock win over the 2012 All-Ireland champions to claim the Ulster Senior Football title last Sunday.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport, he said: "Obviously, we're hurting and we're disappointed and we're just mad to get playing a game again to try put it right but it's not going to be easy against Laois.

"They've come off the back of a very impressive qualifier run and will have a lot of victories under their belt [but] that's Gaelic now, any team were going to come up against at this stage of the championship is going to be tough.

The Glenswilly clubman says the team are eager to repay the fans after last Sunday's disappointment.

"Everybody in the county has been fairly positive and fairly supportive of us since and that's just something we're going to have to put right this weekend.

"It [was] hurtful not to have performed for ourselves and performed for the people of Donegal that have travelled up there but we have the opportunity to try put that right now and that's what we're thriving to do."

Heading into Saturday's game in Carrick-on-Shannon, he said they will prepare for it just like any other game.

"We do what we always do, we train, we prepare, we prepare tactically and mentally and we prepare physically in training and that's the way we will continue to do it this week

"We have met up already and we've recovered from it. It's just life as a human being, you just have to get on life and get on with football."
