Dawn Approach likely to feature at Deauville

Dawn Approach is "an intended runner" in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville this Sunday.

Jim Bolger's high-class colt only raced last Wednesday, when he finished second in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood, but is one of 16 horses in the shake-up at the latest forfeit stage.

Godolphin-owned Dawn Approach was put through his paces on Wednesday morning, which was enough to convince connections, he is ready to make a swift return in France.

Racing manager Simon Crisford told godolphin.com: "Jim is very pleased with how Dawn Approach came out of the Qipco Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

"If all goes well with him between now and Sunday, he is an intended runner in France.

"Dawn Approach had an easy blowout this morning and we are happy with him."

Leitir Mor, Dawn Approach's customary pacemaker, could also join his stablemate on the trip from Ireland.

Aidan O'Brien's team is down to two potential candidates, with Declaration Of War and Gale Force Ten still in the hat.

Ballydoyle won the race 12 months ago with Excelebration.

Moonlight Cloud has been confirmed a likely runner by trainer Freddie Head following her clinical defeat of Lethal Force in the Prix Maurice de Gheest last Sunday.

French Derby winner Intello is one of two Andre Fabre-trained runners, the other being Prince D'Alienor, still engaged.

A strong British contingent is spearheaded by Deauville specialist Elusive Kate, who was so impressive in the Prix Rothschild towards the end of July.

Trainer John Gosden has also left in Gregorian, who was fifth in the Sussex.

Aljamaaheer, Burwaaz, Famous Poet and Olympic Glory are others of note.

Toronado, Dawn Approach's Goodwood nemesis, has been taken out of the Group One over a mile by Olympic Glory's trainer, Richard Hannon.
