Intello decision due after Prix du Prince d'Orange

Andre Fabre will decide whether Intello ends his season in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe or the Qipco Champion Stakes after he runs in the Prix du Prince d'Orange at Longchamp this weekend.

The Prix du Jockey Club winner met with defeat when racing back over a mile in the Jacques le Marois and steps back up to 10 furlongs on Saturday.

He is prominent in the betting for the Arc, but Fabre admits to harbouring doubts about his stamina and expects his next run to help him decide on whether to stay at home or travel to Ascot in October.

"Intello runs in the Prix du Prince d'Orange on Saturday and a decision will be made after that race between running in the Arc and the Champion Stakes," said Fabre.

"The question is if he will stay a mile and a half and his pedigree does hint that it might be a problem. Hopefully we will know more after Saturday.

"I may have a runner in the Champion Stakes regardless as Triple Threat could well run. It looked like he did not stay the mile and a half in the Prix Niel."

One who is on target for the Champion Stakes is the William Haggas-trained Mukhadram, placed in both the Prince of Wales's Stakes and the Coral-Eclipse before being forced to miss the Juddmonte International with a minor hiccup.

"Mukhadram is in great form. If we are to get another race into him before the Champion the only option is the Prix Dollar, but that is unlikely, he is more likely to go straight there," said Haggas.

"He only took a week to get over the foot problem he suffered during the York Stakes but that was enough to rule him out of the Juddmonte International.

"We always intended to give him a break and then it was always the Champion Stakes that Sheikh Hamdan (owner) wanted to go for.

"He is better on quicker ground but won on soft at Sandown earlier in the season so he can cope with it.

"Our big hope is to have him fresh and well for the Champion as that will be a huge asset at this time of the year."

South African trainer Mike de Kock has come close to winning Group Ones in England but has never quite managed it and is likely to rely on The Apache, first past the post in the Arlington Million but demoted to second.

"Ascot is first and foremost in our thoughts for The Apache," said De Kock's assistant Steve Jell.

"We gave him an easy time after the Arlington Million, but he is the type of horse who does well off the training track and we are very pleased with him."

Godolphin's racing manager Simon Crisford confirmed Lockinge winner Farhh was on target to return from injury on Champions Day but which race he contests has still to be decided.

"Farhh is in full training and working well," said Crisford.

"We plan to run him next in the QEII or the Champion but no decision will be made until closer to the time."
