Limerick's Hawk-Eye error appeal is rejected

Limerick's battle against the result of the All-Ireland MHC semi-final against Galway has finally ended after the Disputes Regulation Authority rejected their appeal.

An error with the Hawk-Eye system saw a legitimate Limerick point declared a 'miss' in the match with the Tribesemen on 11 August. The sides finished level at the end of 60 minutes, with the westerners prevailing by three points after extra time.

Limerick GAA officials, along with their legal representatives, presented a 72-page report to the DRA in Tullamore on Monday evening.

They were informed just before midnight last night that the appeal had been turned down. The matter is now closed as the Limerick board will not be taking their objection any further.

As a result Galway will now take their place in Sunday's minor decider at Croke Park, where they will face Waterford.

Limerick made an initial appeal to the Central Competitions Control Committee. That was rejected, as was their subsequent plea to the Central Appeals Committee.

A statement from the county board last night read:

"Last Monday evening in Tullamore the DRA went against the Limerick county board appeal for the minor hurling case for the right to be still involved in the All-Ireland minor hurling championship.

"After a five-hour meeting Limerick were unsuccessful which means the board have now reached the end of the case."
