The new Republic of Ireland manager should be appointed before Christmas, according to the Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney.
The recruitment process for a successor to Giovanni Trapattoni is underway, and there is a lot more interest in the position than there was the last time the post was vacant, according to Delaney.
Caretaker manager Noel King, who is in charge of the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan, will not be considered for the job on a full-time basis.
