Risk-taker Wilson impresses O'Neill

Ireland boss Martin O'Neill says he is impressed with the versatility of Marc Wilson but is unsure about his best position.

The 26-year-old Stoke player, who had earned most of his recent caps at left-back, started off in central defence during Ireland's 0-0 draw with Poland last night before moving into central midfield.

O'Neill said: "He played at centre-back. He has little bit of presence about him and he can also play at left-back - I had a thought in my mind to push him over there to have a look.

"But I put him into midfield because he's confident on the ball - maybe too confident on the ball and takes a risk or two - but he's a very fine footballer."
