Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers may well stick with the same side which demolished Tottenham last weekend when Cardiff visit Anfield.
With no new injury concerns the Reds could name an unchanged line-up, especially as options in midfield are limited with captain Steven Gerrard still out with a hamstring injury.
Striker Daniel Sturridge (ankle) and left-back Jose Enrique (knee) are still sidelined until the new year.
Cardiff have no new injury concerns for their visit north.
Craig Bellamy could yet return from a hamstring injury while Craig Noone is set to feature against his boyhood club after an impressive display against West Brom last weekend.
Andreas Cornelius is pushing for a first start in the Premier League but is likely to again have to settle for a place on the bench behind Fraizer Campbell.

Central defender Brede Hangeland is making good progress after surgery on his sciatic nerve complaint as is defender Matthew Briggs after his hernia operation.
Manchester City have a problem at right-back for their trip to London with Pablo Zabaleta and Micah Richards (both hamstring) injured.
Possible alternatives include central defender Dedryck Boyata, midfielder James Milner or left-backs Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster could return from a foot injury for West Brom's clash as they play host to Hull.
The England international has not featured since August 24, but caretaker boss Keith Downing has said the 30-year-old is in line to face the Tigers.
Downing, taking the team after Steve Clarke was sacked last weekend, has no injury worries to contend with.
Robbie Brady is out of Hull's match against West Brom with a groin injury.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder is now doubtful for all of the Tigers' matches over the Christmas period, with the injury continuing to cause problems.
Sone Aluko (Achilles) and Stephen Quinn (hamstring) remain long-term absentees.

Tottenham will be without Andros Townsend after the winger was forced off during the Capital One Cup defeat to West Ham with a hamstring injury and will not be fit to play any part at St Mary's.
Caretaker manager Tim Sherwood will have captain Michael Dawson available after a ban but Paulinho is still suspended and defensive duo Younes Kaboul (thigh) and Jan Vertonghen (ankle) are also missing.

Swansea v Everton, 4.00
Swansea forward Michu is a doubt for the visit of Everton.
The Spaniard is nursing an ankle problem, while Nathan Dyer is facing a long spell on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage at Norwich and Michel Vorm has undergone ankle surgery.
Garry Monk continues to be ruled out with a knee problem, but Leon Britton and Chico Flores should return from a toe injury and suspension respectively.
Everton have James McCarthy back available with the midfielder having completed his suspension for collecting five bookings this season.
On-loan Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks with the hamstring injury he sustained against Fulham, and Tony Hibbert (knee) is not yet ready for first-team involvement again.
Fellow defender Leighton Baines is continuing to work his way back from a broken toe, with St Stephen's Day looking likely right now as the point at which he will be able to make his return to match action.

Arsenal v Chelsea, 8.00pm
Arsenal will be without midfielder Jack Wilshere, who starts a two-match suspension, for Monday eagerly awaited tussle with Chelsea.
Centre-half Laurent Koscielny is a major doubt after suffering a gash to his knee in the 6-3 defeat at Manchester City, but German forward Lukas Podolski is available again after three months out with a hamstring injury.
Forward Yaya Sanogo (back), midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby (both knee) are all still sidelined.
Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole is to return to the substitutes' bench for the meeting with his former club.
With Branislav Ivanovic available after serving a one-match ban, the Serbia defender will return at right-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta reverting to left-back and Cole dropping out of the side.
Captain John Terry will also return, but Michael Essien is banned after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season at Sunderland and his fellow midfielder Marco van Ginkel (knee) is a long-term absentee.
