Cork's Paudie O'Sullivan to miss hurling league

Written By Unknown on Kamis, 09 Januari 2014 | 23.06

Cork hurler Paudie O'Sullivan has been ruled out the National League, although he's hopeful of returning to fitness in time for the Rebels' opening Munster championship game against Waterford on 25 May.

O'Sullivan sustained a broken tibia and fibula in a club match last April, and while his tibia healed properly after surgery, a second operation was required on his fibula.

In other GAA news the Leitrim footballers will be captained by Emlyn Mulligan again this year. New manager Seán Hagan left it to a players vote to select the captain.

Leitrim begin their Allianz League Division 4 campaign at home to Antrim on 2 February, while Roscommon are their opponents in the opening round of the Connacht Championship in May.

Shane Briggs has been appointed as Waterford captain, he's a brother of Irish rugby star Niamh Briggs.

Cork ladies goalkeeper Elaine Harte has announced her retirement after winning eight All-Ireland medals.
