Whelehan off to winning start with Faithful

Brian Whelehan's reign as Offaly hurling boss got off to a winning start after a 1-17 to 0-14 Walsh Cup preliminary-round victory over Antrim in Tullamore.

The visitors began the game on the front foot and held a 0-09 to 0-05 lead at half-time.

The Ulster side extended their advantage to five points before Tommy Geraghty and Joe Bergin, who ended up with ten points, helped Offaly draw level.
