Bohs and Rovers set to face off

Written By Unknown on Jumat, 21 Maret 2014 | 23.06

Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers meet in a mouth-watering Dublin derby tonight in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

The arch-rivals will clash at Dalymount Park having taken four points from their two matches so far and both sides will go into the game full of confidence.

Bohs captain Dave Mulcahy (knee) looks certain to miss out alongside Andy Mulligan (quad) and Lee Whelan (ankle).

Anto Murphy (hamstring) is still doubtful, while Karl Moore is available again after overcoming a groin problem.

David O'Connor remains sidelined with an ankle ligament injury sustained in the opening weekend draw against Derry City.

Kieran Marty Waters (calf) and Stephen McPhail (tendonitis) have a chance of featuring for the visitors, while Ryan Brennan is also a doubt with a foot problem.

Hoops manager Trevor Croly said: "As is always the case with Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians games, it is a big one and one is everyone is very much looking forward to.

"The game will generate a lot of interest and there should be a good crowd of supporters from both sides there on the night."

The Hoops have sold out their ticket allocation for the game.

Derry City manager Roddy Collins has challenged his players to react to last week's defeat to Cork City when they travel to Drogheda United.

City have only taken one point so far this season and Collins feels they can improve on that tonight.

He said: "In the last two weeks we have seen an injury-time goal cost us three points and then one lapse in concentration cost us at least one last week. The lads know what went wrong and have been working hard all week in training to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

"As with any new squad it takes a couple of weeks for everybody to bed down and understand what to expect from each other, and with that in mind we will travel to Drogheda with the full belief that we will secure our first three points of the campaign.

"We know that it's going to be another tough test but that's the good thing about this league, you know that every game is going to be a tough one and that teams are more than capable of beating each other."

Ger Doherty is a doubt for tonight's game with a hamstring injury while Barry McNamee could be absent because of a calf strain.

Gavin Brennan and Phillip Hughes are suspended for Drogheda,

Paul Crowley is doubtful and goalkeeper Michéal Schlingermann is definitely ruled out.

Bray Wanderers will hope to continue their fine start to the year when they venture south to play Cork City.

Alan Mathews' men haven't conceded a goal so far in the league and shocked title hopefuls Sligo Rovers last week in the Carlisle Grounds with a deserved 1-0 victory.

Danny O'Connor misses the game because of injury, Shane O'Neill could also be ruled out while David Cassidy is suspended after the dismissal against Limerick two weeks ago.

Cork have problems in attack with Danny Morrissey and Michael Rafter absent with ankle injuries.

Anthony Elding (also ankle) is a doubt and will be assessed prior to the game.

John Dunleavy is back from suspension.

UCD and Athlone Town will be chasing their first points of the season when they meet at the UCD Bowl.

The Students suffered a heart-breaking loss to St Patrick's Athletic last week as Christy Fagan pounced in stoppage time for a 3-2 win in Richmond Park.

Athlone have been beaten by Sligo and Shamrock Rovers in their first two matches since returning to the top flight and will see this game as a better opportunity to get points on the board.

Robbie Creevy and Mark Langtry will face fitness tests for Aaron Callaghan's side.

Conor McMahon (hamstring), Neil Harney (quad) and James O'Brien (back) are doubts for the midlanders.

Aidan Collins is definitely out with a shoulder problem.
