The first four Irish in action at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland have failed to qualify from their heats.
In the Men's 1500 metres, David McCarthy was sixth in heat three, in 3:39.46 seconds and missed the final by one place and a mere .15 of a second.
He will end up with a ranking of 10th at the Championships.
McCarthy said afterwards: "I'm a little disappointed with that, I gave it my all but I finished just outside the qualifiers. The goal was to make the final, then to just fall short of it is disappointing".
Mark English failed to qualify after finishing fourth in his heat of the 800m in 1:47.60 and said: "I gave it everything, it wasn't wholly disappointing. I executed my plan perfectl,y the other guys were just too good on the day."
Roseanne Galligan was fifth in her heat of the 800 in 2:03.30 seconds, a season's best but did not progress, and likewise Ciara Everard ran a season's best of 2:03.69 but did not reach the next stage with a sixth place finish.
Speaking after her race, Galligan said: "I felt really good on the last lap, I was on target for what I wanted.
"I tried to hold my form but the speed just went. I gave it all that was all I had on the day. It's all about the summer now for me; I'm really looking forward to Zurich and to see what I can do there."
