Galway's struggles in the early part of the Allianz Football League are difficult to watch, according to former player Padraic Joyce.
The two-time former All-Ireland winner was speaking in the aftermath of a disappointing 1-20 to 0-08 defeat for the Tribesemen against Laois in Division 2 of the Allianz FL.
It's a third consecutive defeat for Alan Mulholland's side – a result that leaves them in danger of dropping down to the third tier.
It's two years since Joyce retired from the inter-county scene. During the latter years of that tenure, Galway's stock was starting to fall, but now watching on from afar the Killererin clubman is clearly disappointed that the side has started this spring campaign so poorly.
Speaking on RTÉ's League Sunday, he said: "It is disappointing as a supporter to see the team struggling. I don't enjoy it.
"I want to see the team doing well and winning Connacht Championships and All-Irelands in the years to come. It's hard at the moment to see the team ship heavy defeats."
Joyce also added that not being involved with the county any more makes it even more difficult.
"Last year I found it really hard especially at Championship time. You're twiddling your thumbs at home on Tuesday and Thursday nights. You go for a walk or a jog just to get out and do something. Normally you'd be picking the gear bag up and heading for training."
When asked whether he would consider management Joyce didn't rule out, but it's not something he is considering in the immediate term.
He added: "I have thought about it. It's obviously something that most inter-county players would look at. At the moment I'm quite busy with work, having my own company.
"Down the line I would look at it, but as of now I'm enjoying having time to myself and with my family. Maybe in two or three years I might get fed up at home and do something.
"If I did do it, the logical place to start would be with the club. I've looked after a few underage teams with Killererin and that's a good place to start to get your confidence built up as a trainer.
"Training methods are evolving all the time and you need to keep on top of it. It's all about picking the moment and picking the right team to get involved with.
