Republic of Ireland international Stephen Quinn said there was no question of him celebrating his FA Cup semi-final goal for Hull against former club Sheffield United.
The 28-year-old's deft header, which put the Tigers 4-2 up, was his first goal of the season.
"The question was posed during the week, would I celebrate, and I said 'no'. I've got too much respect for the club," he said after the 5-3 win that sets up a final date with Arsenal.
"They helped me as a player and looked after me and my family for a number of years. But it just had to happen, didn't it? It was written in the stars.
"I had some mixed emotions but I was really happy to score a goal at Wembley and get the team to the final."
Quinn, who was joined on the score sheet by fellow Ireland midfielder David Meyler, won his third international cap in March as a substitute during Ireland's 2-1 loss to Serbia.
