Goalkeeper
Barry Murphy (Shamrock Rovers)
The Rovers keeper was superb in their 1-0 defeat to St Pat's. With Rovers down to ten men he kept them in the game, showing great awareness to save Killian Brennan's free from out wide and Chris Forrester's looping shot. Two saves in 90 seconds from Conan Byrne's low drives saw him stand out alone in defence as Pat's dominated.
Defence
Sean Gannon (Dundalk)
The young full-back's reputation continues to grow and against UCD he turned in another fine display. Not only solid and dependable at the back, Gannon offers a real threat going forward and he played a big part in his side's second goal against the Students.
Tomas Boyle (UCD)
An unlikely selection perhaps but Boyle worked tirelessly in shoring up a UCD defence that was under pressure from the opening whistle. Two superb interventions denied certain goals and although Dundalk swept the Students aside in the second-half, little of the blame could be placed on the centre-half, who continues to flourish in this campaign.
Adam Mitchell (Bray Wanderers)
Declan O'Brien went into his side's 2-0 defeat against Bray Wanderers in outstanding form as the Premier Division's top scorer, but he was barely given a sniff by Adam Mitchell who stuck close to 'Fabio' all night, nullifying the big threat in the home side's ranks.
Midfield
Conan Byrne (St Pat's)
Byrne had a great tussle with Luke Byrne before the latter was sent off in the challenge that led to the penalty. Free from the attention of the Rovers defender, he created havoc down the right for Sean O'Connor in the second-half. Twice, he brought the very best out of Barry Murphy and his mazy runs deserved a better return.
Kieran Djilali (Sligo Rovers)
Djilali was constant threat down the right for Sligo in their league draw with Cork City giving ex-team-mate Iarfhlaith Davoren a tough first appearance in the first half and continuing to be a problem for City's back line in the second. Djilali was just as impressive in Monday's Setanta Cup clash with St Pat's, creating problems whenever he had the ball.
Billy Dennehy (Cork City)
The Cork winger continues to be one of his side's biggest attacking threats and against Sligo Rovers he held his nerve when it mattered most to secure his side a point with a coolly taken injury-time penalty kick.
Michael Duffy (Derry City)
Derry's struggles this season have come as a surprise to many but in Michael Duffy they appear to have unearthed a real gem. After going behind at home to Athlone early on, Duffy's cross helped his side to equalise and his quick feet and quick thinking allowed him to get on the score sheet himself as his side edged to a nervy 3-2 victory.
Forwards
Patrick Hoban (Dundalk)
Hoban maintained his fine recent form, leading the line intelligently and causing numerous problems for Hugh Douglas and the UCD defence. With his side struggling in the opening half, Hoban provided the inspiration with a wonderful header to level matters and his aerial prowess was also pivotal in setting up Stephen O'Donnell for Dundalk's second goal. Hoban then won and converted a penalty to help wrap things up.
Joseph Ndo (Sligo Rovers)
The Sligo veteran was excellent playing in the hole behind Aaron Greene, during Rovers' comprehensive 5-1 Setanta Cup victory over St Pat's. Ndo began the move for the opening goal and was then there on the edge of the area to receive the ball and blast home Sligo's second to clinically punish his former side's appalling defending.
David Scully (Bray Wanderers)
The young Bray striker broke the deadlock in the second half of his side's victory over Drogheda but was lively from the start. A superb one-two with Ismahil Akinade would have yielded a goal only for a fine save from keeper Dave Ryan.
