GAAGO to stream up to 45 games per year worldwide

The GAA and RTÉ have launched GAAGO, a new live and on-demand streaming service for fans outside the island of Ireland.

All 45 televised games from this season's football and hurling championships - as broadcast by both RTÉ and Sky - will be available to watch on GAAGO.

In Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) only the 25 games carried by RTÉ will be available - viewers in those countries must be Sky customers to see the games shown by Sky.

Games will be streamed in HD and will include full commentary, scores, and studio programming as seen by audiences in Ireland.

Subscribers will be able to view the games on any internet-enabled device, including mobile phones, tablet devices and laptops.

Season pass: €110 (€60 in Britain)
Single game: €10 (€14 per game from quarter-finals onwards)

The GAAGO service will begin on Saturday 14 June 2014. Until then, the RTÉ Player will provide free worldwide streaming of all GAA championship matches, beginning with Tyrone v Down on Sunday.

For audiences worldwide, The Sunday Game highlights programme will continue to be available to view for free on the RTÉ Player in the days following broadcast.

This afternoon, GAA director general Páraic Duffy said he was delighted to be launching the service.

"For the first time our games will be available to followers around the globe through the same service and we are enthused at the prospect of making it easier for people - both GAA members and new audiences alike - to make a connection with top-level football and hurling regardless of where they might be," Duffy said.

RTÉ director general Noel Curran echoed those comments.

"Gaelic games are at the heart of our culture and while its home is Ireland, Gaelic games are ardently followed and celebrated by the Irish diaspora worldwide, providing a sense of home from home.

"Creating an online international paid for service will now enable us to deliver and showcase Gaelic games across the world."
