Liverpool looking to sign Adam Lallana

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to made a bid for Southampton captain Adam Lallana.

The attacking midfielder, likely to be included in England's World Cup squad today, has been in superb form this season for the Saints, scoring ten goals in 42 appearances.

He has indicated his desire to play at a higher level recently, writing in Southampton's match programme on the final day of the season: "I'm ambitious. I want to one day play in the Champions League."

Lallana was named in the Professional Footballers' Association Premier League team of the year this season as Southampton finished eighth in English football's top division.
