The second one-day international between Ireland and Sri Lanka has been called off due to adverse weather conditions.
Poor weather had delayed the start of the game, but it had been hoped that some a reduced-innings game would be possible after lunch.
However, Umpires Richard Kettleborough, Richard Smith and match referee Chris Broad officially abandoned the game following a ground inspection at 2.20pm.
Ireland lost the first ODI by 79 runs on Tuesday.
"The next time we might be together will be September or October" - William Porterfield
"You're not in control of the weather and that's the way it is," Ireland skipper William Porterfield said afterward.
Looking ahead to next year's World Cup, Porterfield was left to rue that the called-off game "could be the last time we're together as a squad for a few months."
He said that it was now up to players to work on their individual games.
"There's a lot of hard work to be put in over the next ten months, the next time we might be together will be September or October," he said.
"The lads have got to keep working hard both on their individual games, and on the county circuit, or back home in club cricket and inter-provincial cricket."
Porterfield confirmed that Ireland were hoping to tour Australia or New Zealand at some point during the winter.
"Hopefully we can get down there and it will be good preparation for the World Cup," he said.
