Jan Sokol of the Azerbaijan Synergy Baku team won a thrilling sprint to the line in Charleville, Co Cork to take victory in stage three of An Post Rás.
Riccardo Pichetta (Italy Team Idea) and Oliver Wood (GB National Team) finished second and third with Irish rider Damien Shaw
(Cork Aquablue) taking an impressive fourth place.
A break of nine riders including Irish men Shaw and Roger Aiken (Louth North) and also stage one winner Robert Jon McCarthy (An Post Chain Reaction) attacked early on building up a lead of 3min 25sec.
The gap dwindled as the breakaway approached Charleville but they managed to stay away with Sokol winning the sprint to the line.
The result sees Patrick Bevin still top of the general classification going in to a mountainous and gruelling stage four tomorrow from Charleville to Cahirciveen.
