France and Newcastle defender Mathieu Debuchy have appeared to confirm rumours that he will move to Arsenal.

In a post on Instagram following France's World Cup exit, Debuchy said "goodbye Brazil, hello Arsenal".

Precise details of the deal are not yet available, and Arsenal and Newcastle have not confirmed the deal.

With Bacary Sagna having left the Emirates at the end of his contract, Debuchy would be a much-needed addition to teh Arsenal squad.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has had no desire to sell Debuchy, who signed a five and a half year deal when he joined the club from Lille in January last year for around £5.5m.

However, the player has spoken of his desire to play Champions League football once again, something Newcastle cannot offer him, and rather than try to hold on to a potentially unhappy player, they could be prepared to cash in - but only if the price is right.

Debuchy had previously removed reference to his being a Newcastle player from his Twitter handle, and favourited a tweet in which a user claimed that he would soon be unveiled as an Arsenal player.
