RTÉ analyst Michael Duignan expects Liam Dunne's men to get past Waterford this weekend.

Following their win over Clare, the level of expectancy surrounding Wexford hurling has increased ahead of the the Yellowbellies' clash with the Déise meet at Nowlan Park on Saturday in round two of the hurling qualifiers.

The prize for the winner is a date with Limerick in the All-Ireland quarter-final on 27 July.

For Duignan, much focus will be on what state of mind Wexford are in following their heroics against the Banner.

"It's really all about how Wexford are and how they've recovered after last weekend," said the former All-Ireland-winning Offaly player.

"To come down from the high of playing and beating the All-Ireland champions is going to be the big test" - Michael Duignan

"After the match at Wexford Park, it was like they won an All-Ireland – the atmosphere, the crowd on the pitch; it was a fantastic feeling for everybody involved.

"To come down from the high of playing and beating the All-Ireland champions is going to be the big test of Liam Dunne's team this week."

Duignan has been impressed by the emerging talent that has come through the Wexford ranks.

"I think they have unearthed some fantastic new players," he added.

"Liam Óg McGovern, Conor McDonald, Jack Guiney (who was there last year) and Matthew O'Hanlon have really impressed this term. There is no doubt the team is stronger now.

Waterford haven't played since their victory over Laois on 28 June. Duignan said they were in a perfect position heading to Nowlan Park.

"They are in a lovely position. No one is expecting anything from them," he said.

"They are very seasoned team with the likes of Michael Walsh. Kevin Moran, Noel Connors. Padraig Mahony and they have an excellent young coach in Derek McGrath."

Duignan is confident that Wexford can negotiate this latest hurdle.

"There is huge expectation in Wexford. Can they handle that? I think they can. They have impressed so far. I'm going with the Yellowbellies."
