Liverpool have agreed to sell Italian striker Fabio Borini to Sunderland for £14m and are reportedly lining up an £8.5m deal for QPR's Loic Remy to replace him.
Borini was one of Brendan Rodgers first signings as Liverpool manager in 2012, having previously played under him at Swansea, but failed to establish himself at Anfield and was loaned out to Sunderland last season.
He scored seven goals in 32 appearances for the Black Cats and was instrumental in their Premier League survival.
Black Cats boss Gustavo Poyet is clearly a fan and has now moved to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis.
Personal terms have yet to be agreed.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports report that Liverpool have agreed a fee of £8.5m for QPR's France international Remy, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle, where he scored 14 times.
Remy is believed to have a release clause in his contract that can be activated by clubs competing in the Champions League.
Liverpool qualified for Europe's elite club competition for the first time since 2008/9 after finishing second in the Premier League behind Manchester City.
