Martin solos to victory in stage nine of Le Tour

Tony Martin has won stage nine of the Tour de France, with a solo breakaway on the 170km route from Gérardmer to Mulhouse.

Swiss Fabian Cancellara was second and Belgian Greg van Avermaet took third place.

France's Tony Gallopin took the overall leader's yellow jersey.

Ireland's Nicolas Roche came 117th on the stage, and drops from 34th to 38th overall.
