The Offaly County Board has paid tribute to U21 hurling manager Dermot Hogan, who died last night after falling while painting at his home.
Hogan (45) was reportedly painting a shed on the family farm in Coolderry when he fell through a roof he had been standing on.
He had only been named as Offaly U-21 boss earlier this year, with the Faithful County exiting the Leinster championship at the semi-final stage to eventual winners Wexford.
"Dermot's positivity towards Offaly hurling was infectious," Offaly chairman Padraig Boland told offaly.gaa.ie
"While Dermot's loss to Coolderry and Offaly hurling will be huge, it pales into insignificance when compared to the loss that will be felt by his wife Marie and family.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this extremely sad time."
