Ireland full-back Niamh Briggs has been nominated for the IRB Women's Player of the Year 2014 Award.
The 29-year-old from Waterford is one of four candidates for the prize. Two Canada players, wing Magali Harvey and number eight Kelly Russell, and France number eight Safi N'Diaye have also been nominated.
Players were shortlisted on the basis of votes by management from each of the 12 teams and commentators after each round during the pool stages at the Women's Rugby World Cup.
The winner will be announced after the conclusion of the tournament on Sunday.
All four will be in action in the Women's Rugby World Cup 2014 semi-finals in France later today.
Ireland play England at 5pm Irish time (Live on 2fm, live text commentary on RTÉ.ie/sport).
The IRB did not hand out an official award last year but Briggs did win both the prestigious Scrumqueens Player of the Year award and the Irish player of the year award for 2013.
