Lucida impressed with a winning debut for Jim Bolger and Godolphin in the Frank Kenny Race at Naas.
The Shamardal filly looked to be facing a stiff task on her racecourse bow against market leaders Cape Clear Island and Dandyleekie, but travelled well in the hands of Kevin Manning as the Ger Lyons-trained Dandyleekie took the field along.
Edging to the front over a furlong out, the 8-1 chance kept on well to hold fellow newcomer Compass Hill by a length and three-quarters.
Cape Clear Island was sent off the 4-5 favourite but was one of the first beaten.
Bolger said: "She's good. She has got an interesting pedigree and is related to Helen Street. She seems to have inherited all the best traits.
"For the moment I'll keep her off firm ground but after this I don't think it's an issue.
"She's my only entry in the Cheveley Park and that will be my long-term aim. There could be something in the meantime but there's nothing planned at the moment."
