Captain Peter O'Mahony says Munster must be more consistent as the new Pro12 season kicks off.
The 2011 Magners League champions blew hot and cold last season, finishing third in the table before losing the semi-final to Glasgow Warriors.
They also got to the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup after beating Toulouse impressively in the quarter-finals but were far from their best in the subsequent defeat to Toulon.
Back rower O'Mahony, whose side open their campaign against Edinburgh at home on Friday (7.35pm), said: "I think the most important thing for us to get this year is consistency.
"I think we've had a couple of great performances last year, then backed up with a couple of very, very poor performances, which a couple of years ago wouldn't have been the case.
"When we were competing hard for trophies [that didn't happen]. The measure of how good a season was for us is silverware."
