England forward Danny Welbeck could make his Arsenal debut in the lunchtime clash against Manchester City following a £16million deadline day move from Manchester United.
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey (ankle) will be assessed while captain Mikel Arteta (ankle) is back in full training, along with goalkeeper David Ospina (thigh) and full-back Kieran Gibbs (hamstring).
German playmaker Mesut Ozil should be available after returning early from international duty because of a sprained ankle.
England forward Theo Walcott is a couple of weeks away from returning after a serious knee injury, but midfielder Serge Gnabry (knee) remains out and striker Olivier Giroud (fractured foot) is a long-term absentee.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of the Premier League clash with Swansea after withdrawing from Spain duty with a hamstring injury.
Manager Jose Mourinho may opt to hand Loic Remy his debut, following his signing from QPR, with Wednesday's Champions League fixture with Schalke in mind.
Mourinho reported no further injury problems ahead of the fixture with the Swans, who like the Blues have begun the season with three wins from three games.

Bafetimbi Gomis stands by should Bony be rested to the bench and Marvin Emnes could join the squad for the first time this season after hamstring trouble but midfielder Leon Britton has been ruled out for at least four more weeks with a knee injury.

James Chester is available again after suspension, Andrew Robertson is battling a calf injury and Michael Dawson is set for a home debut.
