And young Jimmy White of Tooting, South London, was very good at snooker and seemingly allergic to school.

He would go on to become a household name and rival Alex Higgins for the title of "The People's Champion".

This morning Jimmy White spoke to Sean O'Rourke about his life on and off the green baize and why he still thinks he can be world champion.
