Rob Heffernan will receive the bronze medal for the 20km walk at the 2010 European Championships in Cork tonight.
World and European champion Sonia O'Sullivan will present the medal to Heffernan on behalf of European Athletics and Athletics Ireland.
The ceremony will take place in the council chambers in City Hall at 6pm.
The Togher AC star crossed the line in fourth in Barcelona in 2010, but winner Stanislav Emelyanov of Russia has been subsequently banned due to irregularities in his biological passport.
This brings Ireland's medal tally at European Championships to 13.
It's the Cork man's second major medal, adding to his heroic win in the 50km walk at the World Championships in Moscow last year.
