Newly-crowned WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee fulfilled a lifelong dream as he raised his world title belt aloft on arrival at Shannon Airport.
Lee has long since stated his desire to one day stand on the steps of an aircraft at Shannon and raise a world title belt over his head and that moment arrived this afternoon.
Lee was greeted at the foot of the aircraft by and embraced his mother Ann.
His father Tom had already travelled over to London to meet him following Andy's flight on Monday from the US.
On touching down at Shannon, Lee said: "It's surreal but it's a great feeling all the same.
"It's something I dreamed and fantasised about when I won the title coming back to Shannon and back to Limerick and it's a dream come true.
"It's great and I'm looking forward to seeing everybody. The response I've got so far has been amazing."
