Kevin Walsh has said that he is delighted with Galway's 0-14 to 0-05 win over Sligo in the Connacht FBD Insurance League but predicted wholesale changes for his side's next game as he continues to blood new players.
The Tribesmen were dominant in Walsh's first game in charge since his appointment last September, leading Sligo by nine points to two at half-time before pushing on in the second half.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the game, Walsh stressed that he was not reading too much into the result given the time of year, but was pleased to taken the win.
"I'm delighted with the way the boys applied themselves," Walsh said.
"Obviously, it's very, very early, and I'm sure Sligo, no more than ourselves, have been just putting out fellas they want to have a look at, just to see how they like the jersey on their back.
"And it's important from a personnel kind of thing more than a result-driven process at this stage that we find a few players who are really up for it."
Walsh predicted extensive changes for Galway's game against Leitrim next week.
"It's not that these boys poorly or anything like that, and they're aware of that before today. [Also] the boys who were taken off today: they weren't taken off for any particular reason other than to blood some people in."

A notable feature of Galway's panel was the number of clubs whose players featured. Walsh said he was pleased that there was a wide range represented.
"I think there could be something like 16 or 18 clubs involved in today's panel, which I didn't realise when we were picking it. But it's nice to see there are people [from] all over the place."
Overall, the former Sligo boss was not reading too much into the result, given how early in the year it was and that the Yeats County, too, were likely to have been fielding an experimental line-up.
However, he hailed Galway's display all over the field and their ability to close the game out while playing into the wind in the second half.
"What's pleasing was the way we finished off against strong breeze, and didn't really look in trouble in the second half," he said.
"And, to be fair, I thought the full-back line were brilliant today."
The ability of the Tribesmen's forwards to put away their scores work hard for the team in challenging conditions was also a positive for Walsh.
"These windy days, sometimes the inside [forward] line can suffer themselves, personally, because the right ball mightn't come, or you can't get a ball in," he said, suggesting that his own players had worked hard in such a scenario.
"And if you're playing against a defence like Sligo had set up today – they really [were] very defensive – it's important that the inside forward line ... that they realise they're playing for the team, and that they might not get as much ball as they want, and they like to have the flare, but it's important that on these days that they just running and keep working."
