They say a week is a long time in politics. The same period in the Allianz Hurling League in the month of February can also bring about contrasting fortunes.
Such was the case at Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday evening where Cork turned in an impressive display to beat Clare. Seven days earlier, the Rebels, in spite of the final scoreline, were well off the mark against Kilkenny.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, Jimmy Barry-Murphy described the improvement as "unbelievable" and was quick to praise the effort of all his players.
"I thought from the word go tonight we were much more up for the game and played a lot better hurling also," he said.
"I couldn't believe the transformation tonight. I know, talking to the players, that they were most disappointed with their own display against Kilkenny. They wanted to make amends.

"Everybody, including the subs we brought in, all made a significant contribution. That's all you can ask for – players to give everything – and I thought they did that against Clare."
Next up for Cork is clash with Dublin at Croke Park on 7 March and JBM is hoping that having points on the board will inspire his side to greater things.
We needed the win as we didn't want to be going Croke Park with no points," added Barry-Murphy.
"The victory will give us a lift. It also shows us that when we play at our best we can be a match for everybody.
"Sometimes we don't play as well as we would like. I thought against Clare the intensity was there all over the field."
