Tyrone's listless display in their defeat to Monaghan on Saturday drew much criticism from RTÉ analyst, Kevin McStay, who described it as the poorest performance he's seen from Tyrone under Mickey Harte.
Healy Park in Omagh witnessed a floodlight failure at the weekend, but it was also a case of the lights going out for the Red Hand after a good start in their 1-13 to 0-09 loss.
McStay's assessment of the capitulation pulled no punches. Speaking on League Sunday, he said: "I'd say I'm 13 years watching them but I would have to say that was the poorest I've seen Tyrone play.
"They didn't score from play for 52 minutes against Monaghan. Well, you might think they were getting scores from frees – but they only got one score from a free in that time.
"They weren't up for it and didn't get stuck in. Even after the floodlight failure, they came out very lethargic looking."
While accepting that's it's only the first round of the league, McStay feels that Mickey Harte has a job to do in getting things back on track
"There are no eternal truths to be got in the first round of the league and I accept that." he added.
"However, Mickey Harte has a challenge now. Tyrone are heading to Mayo next week – a Mayo squad who are buoyant at the moment. If there's anything in them, they'd want to be togging fairly strong next Sunday.
"Another performance, similar to one against Monaghan, will have a lot of people wondering about this current squad. They have a lot to live up to."
